Robert W. Larin was one of the first attorneys in the United States to specialize in the defense of the drinking driver and is recognized nationally as a leader in the field.

In 1976, Robert W. Larin, the firm's founder, authored the article "The Aggressive Defense in Michigan Drunk Driving Cases" in the Detroit Lawyer. Since then he has been heralded as a leading specialist in DUI law and the defense of the drinking driver in Michigan.

In 1979, he was the co-author of the book “Drunk Driving Cases: A Manual for Michigan Lawyers” for the University of Michigan and the Michigan State Bar’s Institute of Continuing Education in Michigan (ICLE). In 1981, he co-authored “Defense of Drunk Driving Cases in Michigan” also for ICLE followed by “Michigan Drunk Driving Law and Practice” in 1986 and 1991. 

In addition to writing about drunk driving defense, Robert W. Larin has lectured extensively on the subject. He has spent a great deal of  time teaching the basics to other attorneys as well as keeping fellow members of the legal community updated on the changes in the drunk driving law. 

He has lectured to the District Judges Association, the Probate Judges Association and the Michigan Association of Accident Reconstruction Investigators. He was a guest lecturer at MSU’s Law School Basic Practice Course, B'nai B'rith Barristers Association and has spoken to community organizations such as the Lions Club and he Rotary Club on the issues regarding the drinking driver.

Robert W. Larin "wrote the book" on drunk driving defense and continues to be the lawyer that other lawyers turn to when they have complicated issues.
